Fairy Tea Party Birthday
Submitted by kiwi-ellieLooking for a magical way to celebrate your daughter’s birthday this summer? How about hosting a Fairy Tea Party?
We invited a few of my daughter’s closest friends to join us for “Fairy Tea.” I had so much fun decorating the table and our yard. I used lots of white tulle and pastel colored ribbons along with the custom designed Fairy Wings from The Fairy Line, based in Tampa, Florida.
I hung the beautiful custom-designed wings from the tree branches with fishing line so they were gently swaying in the light breeze. I also placed a flowering tea bud (from the Tea Party Kit) in a glass tea pot and filled it with boiling water. Right before the girl’s eyes, this beautiful flower appeared in the water. Then, they were able to drink the flowering tea! It was a thrill to watch the expressions on their little faces! It added to the already beautifully decorated table.
Three Fairy wands come in the party kit, so I created a centerpiece with them by placing in a glass vase with pink glass marbles in the bottom. I wrapped more tulle and ribbons around the outside of the vase. On top of the plain pink table cloth I scattered silk rose petals and flower glitter (from the party kit) across the top of the table. Each place setting had a tiny white tea cup and saucer along with all the coordinating party tableware.
To dress up my plain white resin outdoor chairs, I used lengths of tulle tied to the back of the chair with assorted ribbons, then clipped each one with a glittery butterfly or dragon fly clip I purchased at the craft store.
I decorated an old outdoor bench with lots of tulle, ribbon, silk flower garland and more custom fairy wings. This was the perfect backdrop for the girl’s “photo shoot.”
Each girl got to play the part of one of the fairies from the party kit and she was presented a pair of beautiful fairy wings and boa feather garland hair piece. I asked the girls to come dressed in pastel tea party dresses so the whole scene coordinated beautifully.
The little fairies had the best time playing Fairy Bingo, making wishes for the world with the special “wishing stones” and pinning the wings on Fairy Kelissa. I made a simple, but beautiful, cake decorated with pastel trimming and Wilton’s sparkle dust. To add drama, I put it on a cake pedestal dish and added more tulle and ribbon!! I found cute little plastic butterflies that I placed on the cake as well. Then, I tied the cake servers with more assorted pastel ribbons.
Everything was decorated with ribbons and tulle and silk flowers. We played fun Fairy music and all the children had a wonderful time eating little tea sandwiches and drinking the Flowering tea.
At the end of the day, all the girls got to take home their wings and halo headbands along with goody bags I created from the Fairy Line products. I put lots of pastel shreds in clear cello bags and then put a rubber band around the top. I trimmed the edges with pinking shears, added some tulle and pastel ribbons and fluffed out the top of the cello bag. The goody bags were so beautiful that the girls didn’t even want to rip them apart. I placed them in a white wicker basket that was also decorated with the same supplies I used elsewhere.
The great thing about this party was the tulle and ribbons were very inexpensive and can be re-used. My daughter got to keep the beautiful Fairy Kelissa poster and wings (she changes her wings often) and the extra Fairy wings that we used for décor are now hanging from the ceiling in her room!
Honestly, you can take the time to find beautiful ways of creating your own Fairy Tea Party, but I have to tell you that the products from The Fairy Line are so beautiful and unique. Plus, you can save a lot of time by purchasing one of their Fairy Tea Party kits. You’ll even get extra flowering tea buds to use after the party! Visit their web site for more great ideas. There is a wonderful photo gallery too! Of course, my daughter is pictured on the web site as we held the very first “official” Fairy Tea Party!
