About
Average Bar Band is a soulful and grooving rock band with a little R&B mixed in. Please go to our Myspace page by clicking on the "website" tab, above, and watch the video to get a feel for what we do. http://www.myspace.com/averagebarband Our members have played with Gloria Estefan, Norah Jones, Lauryn Hill, The Teenagers ("Why Do Fools Fall In Love"), and The Chiffons ("He's So Fine"), among many others. We love to play and sing, and audiences respond very positively to our love of music. We are available for parties, weddings and any other events. We also sound great as a three piece band, and we can play the same repertoire with acoustic guitars and hand percussion instead of drum kit. This is for a lower volume and to create a more intimate ambience. We're happy to learn new tunes that you pick for us! We can also provide solo jazz guitar, duo, or trio, to play bossa novas and jazz standards. References and recommendations are available upon request. For serious inquiries, a free showcase can be arranged in Manhattan so you can meet us, and see and hear us play live. To discuss bookings and rates contact Jimmy at 212-989-6331 or jimmygreenwood@earthlink.net Thank you for your interest in booking us. You will be happy with the process and the results. We look forward to talking to you, and playing for you! ********************** Kind and funny words about Average Bar Band: Dave Moser, wedding client, August, '09, "You guys are a great band! " Renowned bassist, composer and winner of Downbeat critic's and reader's polls, Steve Swallow, said "The band sounds great! Very musical, full of life." Gold record recording artist with Janet Jackson, Gladys Knight and Patti LaBelle, bass player Mark Haynes said, "I love the tracks you sent me. I did not know that you could sing so well!" Zoe Sansted, daughter of a friend, pre-med at Columbia University said, " You guys are good! How did you get such good people to play with?"
