The cake was more beautiful and more delicious than we could have imagined. I'm still thinking about the yummy chocolate hazelnut filling. April was so easy to work with - came to our house for the tasting. And her prices were great. A++++++

One of the most fun and pleasant experiences you will have during wedding planning. Her designs are modern and exquisite, and her cakes taste sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good!!! She's ultra-friendly and responsive and the best part is sampling - she sent us the most beautiful and tasty mini sample cakes and fillings based on our initial consultation, and you will have a very difficult time choosing since they're all amazing. She also sent us beautiful hand-drawn water color sketches of our cake (three versions), and they are so beautiful that we are putting them in our wedding album!

April Reed's wedding cakes are absolutely amazing (delicious and beautiful!) and April is extremely professional, responsive and easy to work with. Before we booked with April, she came to our apartment to meet with us. She showed us a number of different cakes to see what designs we liked and didn't like and she also took a look at our wedding inspiration book to see the color combinations and general look we were going for. We discussed possible designs and budget and then she left us with a box of several different cakes and fillings to try (all delicious)....we had a great time with that!! Within a day or so April dropped off sketches of different cakes to choose from, along with the pricing information for each design (all beautiful and all within our budget). During the wedding planning process, April was extremely responsive to all of our e-mails and questions. Our wedding cake was absolutely gorgeous and tasted amazing! Guests were raving about it! If you are having a wedding in the NY Area, I would highly recommend booking April Reed!

I absolutely loved my cake! It was beautiful and delicious! My husband wanted a chocolate cake, so that's what we created. April was wonderful at making the perfect chocolate cake that looked amazing. I loved the tasting box she brought over, which had several different favors of cake and icings and jams and creams. You definitely will need a large glass of milk =) The creative aspect is wonderful because you get to pick what the cake consists of and the then you design the look of the cake. Loved it!

Excellent cake, and as delicious as it was pretty. Covered in truffles! Really an all star - she brought cake and frosting samples to our apartment along with hand drawn mock-ups of our possible cakes.

We really love April's designs and her cakes. She was the only cake designer we interviewed because we knew we wanted to work with her. She starts by meeting with you to get a sense of what you are looking for, design, aethetics. She then sends you a wonderful tasting box with 4 different flavors of cake and almost a dozen different flavors of buttercreams and fillings. Included with this tasting box are 3 full-color sketches of cake ideas she has come up with. We then spent all night mixing and matching cake flavors and fillings. You can even choose different flavors for different layers of cake! The day-of the wedding, the cake was absolutely beautiful. April made a large couture rose out of sugar for us and the cake itself was delicious, especially the dark chocolate cake and latte buttercream! The only issue that came up was that April was making a special type of ganache for our cake using Yuzu, a japanese citrus fruit. I was worried that she wouldn't be able to find fresh yuzu so 2 weeks before the wedding, I offered to give her our bottle of yuzu extract. She said she has everything under control, however, the day before our wedding, we received a call from April that she tried very hard, but could not find fresh yuzu. On an already very stressful day, my then fiance had to travel from downtown to midtown to find the yuzu extract and then meet April with it. In the end, we feel that prudent planning may have avoided some of the stress on that day. April did email us after the wedding and offered to make another cake for us using fresh yuzu when it was available and also another cake for our 1st anniversary. We felt this was a very generous offer and we appreciated April's efforts. We believe she is still a very talented cake designer and baker and her designs are still beautiful and delicious!

The cake that April designed for our wedding was gorgeous - we received so many compliments and it was one of my favorite things about my wedding. It was a true work of art. April was professional, thoughtful and easy to work with. She listened to my ideas about colors and styles and created the perfect cake for us. She was also great about helping me stay within my budget. My wedding cake tasted incredibly good. In fact, it tasted as good as it looked. This is so rare in wedding cakes - too often the look nice, but aren't so tasty. We saved the top bit for our 1st anniversary...but ate it the day after the wedding because we couldn't resist!!

We were SO happy with April Reed Cake Design! From the moment she stepped into our apartment to do the cake tasting (which, is so fun and creatively done!) we knew she was the right fit. Her cakes are so classy and elegant--but they TASTE amazing too (which was important for us foodies). I am still dreaming of my wedding cake (and have begged my husband to order one for my upcoming 30th bday;). She was very intent on learning our story, and the feel we wanted our wedding to have...from there she designed a unique, one of a kind cake just for us. She presented us with a lovely sketch of the cake, with swatches of ribbon that she planned to incorporate. I also appreciated that when my husband wanted to change the color of the cake from purple to silver, she did a whole other sketch, just so we could picture it perfectly. When I saw the cake on the day of the wedding, my expectations were exceeded--it was truly a beautiful, special cake. Thank you again April! :)
