Barbara did an absolutely AMAZING job officiating my recent wedding. From start to finish, Barbara was professional, warm, enthusiastic and responsive. She helped us taylor our ceremony from start to finish so that it was exactly what we wanted, and worked with us back and forth on numerous drafts, showing endless patience with our edits. She also had some amazing suggestions that really helped make our ceremony unique, including asking our guests to help her pronounce us married (that was so fun!) and helping us figure out how to include my husband's son in the ceremony. I had so many people come up to me after the wedding and tell us that it was the most personal and moving ceremony they had ever heard -- quite a compliment and definitely something we couldn't have pulled off without Barbara's help! She also handled technical difficulties during the ceremony with effortless ease... at one point our microphone cut out and she was able to seamlessly switch to projecting her un-ampliphied voice so even those in the back rows could hear her -- thank goodness, because not everyone can project their voice like that! In the fairytales the prince and princess have to go through a lot of challenges in order to finally get married and live happily ever after. Our wedding was no exception as we were supposed to be married at the city hall the Friday after hurricane Sandy when our family and friends from Denmark were in town. It didn't work out as planned because of the power loss and computer issues, but luckily something much better was waiting for us :) I found Barbara Ann online and loved here sweet picture, so I gave here a call immediately that Friday to ask her if she could marry us the very next day, and the answer was yes! We didn't even get the chance to meet before the ceremony, but just from hearing Barbara Ann's voice on the phone and listening to her inputs, I knew that this is a woman we could trust and someone who has a deeper understanding of love and life. The spontaneous wedding the next day on the top of the building were we live was fun, personal and very romantic. I loved how Barbara Ann involved our guest in the ceremony and that my husband and I had the chance to speak to each other in our mother tongue (Danish) - Kleenex moment! We had a magical day and I'm so, so happy that the universe made it happen so that Barbara Ann was the one conducting this big day. Barbara was so amazing and friendly from the getgo. My fiance and I had a Skype meeting with her about what we were looking to do for the ceremony. It was so easy to just get it done while at home. Barbara was a very warm, competent, and creative officiant for our wedding at the Prospect Park Boathouse in Brooklyn, and we highly recommend her services. When we first met to discuss the possibility of her performing our wedding, we both felt a genuine connection with Barbara. She was very empathetic, genuinely interested in our conversation, and applied no pressure to hire her whatsoever. After selecting her and picking her weaving wedding option, we had a series of back and forth email discussions about the ceremony including multiple drafts. Although Barbara wrote the overall structure of our ceremony, we wanted to have strong input and we had our own creative ideas that we wanted to try. Barbara was very supportive of this, and together we created what we think was a beautiful ceremony that we received a lot of complements on in regards to its uniqueness and how personal it was. She very successfully weaved our love story in our own words with her own wisdom and sense of humor. Her delivery of the final product was perfect and received much praise from our guests! Two of her ideas that were particularly popular were having the bride and groom speaking in Chinese for part of the ring exchange portion of the ceremony (the bride’s family is of Chinese descent and the groom struggled successfully through it) and a community declaration of marriage where the guests collectively pronounced us man and wife. The day of the wedding, Barbara was a cool soothing presence. She really handles things in stride. She is a true professional who exuded genuine warmth during the ceremony and afterwards. We found Barbara at a friend's wedding the year before ours. It's always a little scary to pick a service provider without actually knowing anyone who can recommend the person. But that's what I did with Barbara, and things turned out better than I had dared imagine. First, after NY passed the marriage equality law, I decided to plan a "surprise wedding" around New Year's for my partner of 15 years and I. As a result, Barbara had to work with just one of us for the first several contacts. This she managed to do with warmth, style and grace. Her approach and smile never once suggested that I might well be out of my mind for planning a wedding a thousand miles from home without the input of the other bride. Barbara asked all the right questions to make sure that I didn't do anything irreversible yet made good decisions that kept things moving. I also had some crazy out-of-towner ideas about where and when I thought we'd want to do the ceremony. Barbara was a fountain of good information about which ideas were - and were not - feasible. Once my bride was in on the "secret," Barbara worked with both of us to ensure the wedding was all that we hoped it would be. The ceremony itself was perfectly tailored to who we are and what our life together has meant for 15 years. Barbara worked with us via telephone and Skype to plan things down to the last comma and period in the ceremony. She was nonplussed at the prospect of a little family drama (doesn't everyone have that?), and she continued to adjust things right down to the last day. In fact, when the City of New York first blocked access to planned venue for New Year's Eve, she didn't bat an eye at moving the location with less than 24 hours to go. Then when the Mayor's office made an exception with 6 hours to go so that we were able to be married on the red stairs in Times Square (and have them ALL TO OURSELVES with three of NYPD's finest watching from below) she rejoiced with us at our good fortune and conducted the ceremony as though it had been meant to be all along. Our entire family was totally impressed by how Barbara interacted with them and made everyone feel at ease. We heartily recommend Barbara's services and encourage you to discuss your dreams with her. Where can we begin? Barbara was an absolute delight to work with, extremely professional and personable. It was as if we're known her for years. She performed our ceremony as "Glinda, the Good Witch of the North" from "Wizard of Oz" and was both funny and touching, even our four year old nephew was blown away and kept asking if she was a princess. After 37 years together we decided to have a last minute ceremony. Barbara not only was willing to work with us last minute she made us feel like she had nothing more important to do than plan a fantastic ceremony with us. With only two days to plan Barbara worked with us to produce a personalized, magical ceremony. A guest at the ceremony was so impressed that she stated that she wished she knew of Barbara for her wedding because our ceremony was so beautiful. Our original officiant fell through about three months before the wedding and we were scrambling to find a replacement. Barbara was one of the first names we came across as we searched, and we saw some very positive reviews. we had the most wonderful day and we have our jester of the peace - barbara ann michaels - to thank for helping us have it all run smoothly! not only was it seamless but her knack for making everyone feel at ease and included was essential and no couple should be without the warmth she showcased on our day! barbara really took the time to know each of us thoroughly - no question was left un-asked and no detail forgotten or left out. during the process we really felt that she was the keeper of our story and we trusted her to express in words what we were probably too nervous to do ourselves! that trust paid off as our day was effortless and natural and personal and emotional and humorous - everything we hoped it would be with just a bit more passion thrown in. barbara, as she will tell you is a true romantic and she is the ultimate medium for tuning into your connection and reflecting that back to your friends and family. it's hard to explain - but she just 'got us' - and it's not everyday that you find someone who is as dedicated to fostering a genuine connection to their clients as barbara is. as our photographer also confirmed - she is a true professional. once we were done with our vows and it was time for a kiss - she smoothly stepped to the side so that the photos were just of my husband and i with an amazing view of the natural setting behind us. barbara is all about the details and she is inherently creative - it's what makes working with her a complete joy and knowing what we know now - we wouldn't have wanted to do it without her! thank you barbara… initially you were the keeper of our story but now you have become an integral part of it as well! we are grateful we found you… love, steph & lee

Barbara was a joy to work with from start to finish! When we first met with her and discussed what we wanted from our ceremony, my husband's request was that it be interesting. I thought that was a tall order for a wedding ceremony, but I have to say that she succeeded admirably! We loved working with Barbara and designing the ceremony with her was one of the most meaningful parts of our wedding journey. In the end, our ceremony was a wonderful, heartfelt and yes, interesting reflection of our relationship and now marriage.

Finding it difficult for my partner and I to envision our nontraditional and fun ceremony we found ourselves getting very discouraged. Then we found Barbara Michaels who after just one phone call knew she was exactly what we needed and wanted. She was able to take our crazy ideas and materialize them into a ceremony that kept our guests on the edge of their seats some times laughing and sometimes crying with tears of joy. We could not have asked for anything more.

My partner and I had a vision of bringing the sparkle and excitement of Breakfast at Tiffany's to our ceremony, Barbara did that and more. She made everything about the vows romantic and humorous without ever loosing sight of our story. She inspired our creativity by providing a questionnaire that on our special day she transformed into a magical moment. She made our wedding, well she made our wedding perfect! I cross my heart and kiss my elbow :)

Barbara was great. She was just an amazing and perfect officiate. She portrays such a positive and cheerful vibe that is infectious. Professional. Confident. Kind. Amazing. Our wedding was to take place on a Fire Island beach right after Hurricane Irene hit the east coast. The venue changed on the day of the wedding and Barbara was happy to accommodate us with an impromptu wedding in the park. We did have the ceremony the following week on the beach. Barbara created two beautiful wedding ceremonies for us. Her personal touches to both ceremonies made them even more special. Barbara has a calming presence about her and she creates memorable weddings.

Barbara really has a talent for taking your real stories and turning into a beautiful set of vows. We got married during the Hurricane Irene and Barbara couldn't be more accomodating and traveled to Westchester to marry us. She is very professional, flexible, easy to work with and most importantly, let you focus on the real meaning of marriage, love!

Barbara was very open to creating a ceremony and day that truly expressed us, our relationship with one another and our families and friends. she was very flexible and helpful as we dreamed up a perfect ceremony.

Barbara did an amazing job on our ceremony. My husband and I left the ceremony until the last minute - as many couples do. Barbara was recommended to us and once we met with her, we knew she would be perfect! She had such unique ideas and suggestions. She helps you truly learn things about each other and put into words your love for one another. She turns any negative into a positive and was a joy to meet with and talk to! I will actually miss talking to her! She is genuinely interested in your story and creating a ceremony that you will never forget. We had so many compliments on our ceremony - which ended up being my favorite part of the wedding. This is what the whole wedding is about - and Barbara personalizes it. Its as though you are sharing a bit of yourself with your whole family, and it felt great! We laughed and cried - it was everything I hoped for thanks to Barbara.

We came all the way from Vienna, Austria to get married in New York. Therefore, our expectations to make this a spectacular wedding in every aspect were very high. I can only say that as far as the ceremony in itself is concerned Barbara has not only met but exceeded all our expectations! She is just the most wonderful person and we cannot thank her enough for the beautiful memories she has created for us.

Barbara married us on 02/17/2011 on Times Square, it was a wonderful ceremony with emotion, love and happyness. she realised our dream. Barbara is like a part of us now because she shows and translate love and secrets we had one for the other. Now we're back in France with a lot of happy memories. thank you so much Barbara.

Barbara was an invaluable piece of the puzzle for our wedding. She seems to be able to do anything - from the most eclectic wedding to a completely traditional affair. We had something right in the middle, ourselves, and she did an incredible job listening to what we wanted and being open to changes and edits in the service as we got closer to the wedding. Barbara was the perfect person to marry my husband and I. We thought for awhile about having a family member or friend marry us but didn't have anyone in our lives that seemed right. Barbara became that friend we were looking for. She learned all about who we are as a couple and as people in order to created the most personal, moving and special ceremony we could have every imagined. Guests were in awe of our ceremony and continue to talk about how grateful they are we shared ourselves in the way we did. All of that is thanks to Barbara. I smile everytime I think of our ceremony. Its difficult to imagine a stranger playing such a large role in an incredibly important moment in your life but with Barbara all our fears disappeared. I would highly recommend her!

There is absolutely nothing negative to say about Barbara! Not only did she officiate at the wedding I planned for my cousin, she coordinated every detail from 3,000 miles away! Barbara met my cousin and fiance over skype and within a few months you would have thought they'd known each other for years by the beautiful and personal ceremony she performed.
