Gary (DJ Gaza) was unavailable for our date, so we worked with DJ Rob Kelly. We were super excited about their level of professionalism, high music IQ, and experience. These guys know their music. They had an extensive questionnaire for us to fill out, detailing everything about our event, our musical tastes, and must-have songs. We had two meetings with them where we covered absolutely everything, and received a few great recommendations from Gary and Rob about some song selections, timing, and party flow (they were a part of the sound throughout the whole wedding from ceremony to reception). They had a lot of really great advice about song selections and timing of reception events like cake cutting, bouquet toss, hava nagila dance, etc. They know weddings backwards and forwards.
Day-of, Rob was amazing. He took over the MC-ing of the toasts during dinner (which we weren't even expecting him to do!), kept things running smoothly, and was a total pro during set up and breakdown. Our ceremony, dinner, and dance party were all in different spaces, and Rob was able to seamlessly coordinate sound for all the components of our wedding, which was super impressive.
The music during our dance party was, for the most part, what we wanted. The only reason we didn't rate a solid 5 out of 5 was that it was super important to us that there be a good balance between pop, indie rock, and parent-friendly classics and slow tunes, which we didn't feel happened. We had discussed this concern during our meetings, so in retrospect, we were a little disappointed that this aspect of the music wasn't addressed. The music was really high energy and young, great for our peers at the wedding, but there were very few slow songs, or songs to get the older generations out on the dance floor. Several of the older guests mentioned that they wished we had more slow songs!
That said, the dance party was still a riot, and everyone had a ton of fun!
