Dan and Sean did a fantastic job at our wedding, I honestly couldn't have been happier. I contacted Dan because we were looking for a DJ who would play Indie music and none of the cheesy participation music that makes me want to gnaw my arm off at weddings, and he really delivered. He was more than willing to work with us to make sure the party was a perfect hit, and it truly was. We sent him an extensive list of songs a few weeks before the wedding, mostly so he would know what we liked, there were really very few choices on there that were mandatory. After he received it, Sean set up a meeting with us to go over it and they were more than willing to obtain any songs on the list that they didn't already have. When it came to the wedding itself, we honestly could not have been happier. Originally, we had contracted with them to play during the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception, but at the last minute we ended up hiring a string trio for the ceremony. Dan and Sean were more than happy to change the window, and they ended up DJing the reception and after-party instead. The music flowed through the reception, and they played a great mix of songs. We had a very particular idea of what we wanted in terms of the evening, and felt it was really important to not have any of the typical cheesy wedding stuff - that "introducing for the first time" thing drives me NUTS, and they didn't blink an eye when I said so. They had everyone dancing til 2am, and I am sure that had the venue allowed it, we could have gone on for hours more. And to be honest, my husband haaaaaaaates to dance. I mean, hates it. At one point, our fathers were even dancing together! It was quite the scene. Anyway, I couldn't have been happier with them, I wouldn't have changed a single thing.

These guys were awesome!!! Super easy to work with and very quick to respond. We only met once before booking them and knew right away they were right for us! They didn't have any annoying restrictions or get offended if you offered suggestions yourself but were VERY helpful in making suggestions for our wedding and when and how to place the smaller events during the wedding--(dances, cake cutting, announcements, etc) I would def recommend them. They will really listen to what you want and read the crowd appropriately to keep the party going!

They do an Amazing work with our wedding on June 17, 2012. Dan and Sean are awesome guys. We want French music because it's was American/French Wedding and they find all the music we need and they make everybody happy. They are very professional, very fast response, great price as they give us the lightning for free, they are just the best of the best so do not hesitate to call them, you will not regret your choice. Sean & Dan provided great music and kept the crowd dancing all night during our October wedding at Bryant Park Grill. It had unfortunately rained that day and knowing I had my heart set on a rooftop ceremony Sean & Dan were flexible up to the very last minute. Sean and Dan from DJNYC really made our wedding a party. Music is very important to my husband and me, so we were super excited to work with DJNYC from all their great reviews and Sean's great indie wedding playlists on their site. We knew that they would be the right fit for us and they were! We gave them a very long list of songs we wanted them to play, but told them to do their own thing depending on the vibe of our guests. Not only did they manage to get almost all of the songs we requested in, they also had all our guests dancing like crazy, even my 88 year old grandmother was in the dance circle! They were not the typical obnoxious dj/mc that we all dread at weddings. They were very low key and professional and ran the wedding smoothly. We could not be happier with the party they gave us and will recommend them to all of our friends.

We hired Sean and Dan for our April wedding (in a private club on the Upper East Side) in NYC and could not be more thrilled with our decision. Everyone absolutely loved them and they really made the party come to life. We were concerned that it would be difficult to find a DJ to please our crowd, which was a mix of younger people in their 20s and older Jewish and Asian relatives. After interviewing a few potential DJs, we were worried that we wouldn't be able to find the right match. But once we met Sean and Dan, something clicked and we knew that they were the DJs for us. Sean and Dan are true professionals and have great personalities. After finding out that they were available for our date, Sean and Dan suggested that we meet to go over our likes and dislikes and the timeline of toasts/dancing/cake-cutting. We were so impressed with how proactive and thorough they were. They were so detail-oriented and committed to making our wedding the best it could be. Most of our requests had been for pop-dance music for our younger crowd, but they suggested a few older songs for our parents and relatives, which I was SO happy about in retrospect, because the older crowd really would've been left out otherwise. During dinner, the older relatives perked up after hearing songs that they recognized and loved. Sean and Dan are so knowledgeable about every genre of music that they were able to create a good balance of music, culturally and generationally. The entire night went flawlessly because of Sean and Dan's expertise. They were able to gauge the crowd and switch up the music accordingly. They transitioned from hava nagila, to top 40s pop, to bossa nova seamlessly. My friends and I danced all night up until the venue needed to close down! Everyone kept coming up to us all night to comment on how great the DJs were. Sean and Dan are the best! Thank you so much for making our wedding a success!

These guys are SO great. We like a lot of different music, and wanted someone who could seamlessly blend a bunch of different styles together, from french pop to london indy rock to reggae to bluegrass. Sean and Dan did it beautifully, and turned it into an insane dance party at the same time. Sean is super knowledgeable about pretty much every genre of music, and spent loads of time on the phone with us and meeting in person to figure out what kinds of music would make for the best party, and would appeal to our wide range of guests. And they did it all without playing ANY of the typical cheesy songs you hear at every single wedding. If you want music that fits your style and creates the exact kind of party you want for you and your guests, these are your guys.

DJ NYC did an incredible job for our wedding ceremony and reception. They listened to exactly what we wanted and came up with a great set of songs. Everyone at our wedding from young to old had a great time. The dance floor was never empty and for most of the night the dance floor was packed. We had many guests coming up to us during and after the reception telling us that this had been one of the best weddings they had ever attended. They played a great mix of music that both the younger crowd and older crowd could enjoy. Before the wedding they were there to answer all the questions we had and went over the entire night start from finish. The other great thing about this dj company is that it is a small organization, and unlike the larger ones, the dj you meet at your first consultation is the same one that will be there on your wedding day. We truly believe that these guys made our wedding day unforgettable. We will be recommending them to anyone I know getting married in the NYC area. Thank you guys for all your hard work! I was looking for a unique DJ that could blend many tastes, cultures and ideas. DJNYC was definitely the best choice. They kept people dancing and were great guys to be around. Professional and fun, they enjoy making your event awesome. My favorite thing about them was that they worked with you on a personal level and became friends, not just vendors. I loved that at the end of the wedding, they joined me, sitting on the dance floor, reliving the weekend (two day wedding and they were there for both nights). You guys are amazing at what you do! We had everyone from ages 3 to 94 at our wedding dancing all night long! I loved every song you chose and everyone loved the gobo lighting of our initials on the ceiling of the tent as well! Thanks to your help with the schedule, everything went flawlessly. We used DJ NYC for our wedding earlier this year, and were thoroughly impressed. Sean and Dan took the time to meet with us a number of times before the big day to understand what type of music we wanted, how it should fit within the reception, and importantly to offer their advice on how to best run these things. All of this really helped to relax us, and we knew we'd be in safe hands. When it came to the big day we weren't disappointed. Everyone had a blast, helped enormously by Dan and Sean's ability to judge the mood and change tracks accordingly. They managed to balance playing a large number of Greek tracks (to meet family demands) while still getting in all the more mainstream, floor-fillers and all of our 'must play' tracks, keeping everyone dancing throughout. Music that kept people dancing until the venue shut down was a huge priority for us. Your music not only has to flow but your DJs need to be experts on wedding time lines and how to make not just the music but all of the events flow. We were looking for DJs who were music fanatics, weren't cookie cutter or too cutesy or too cool for weddings. With all of our vendors, we wanted to truly like the people who would be making much of our wedding happen. The question I always asked myself after meetings was "Would I invite them as guests to my wedding?" For Dan and Sean of DJNYC, the answer is heck yeah. Since we lived across the country from our wedding destination, Sean and Dan were very flexible with meeting my husband while he was in NYC for business. They are exactly how they present themselves: laid back yet total pros, accommodating but full of great and useful tips and ideas, friendly, reliable and super fun. What floored me is how much time they took with us on the phone prior to the wedding to get our music and time line together. We completely trusted them to work off our must play/don't play and they did not disappoint. There are things that Sean said to me prior to the wedding that really happened exactly the way he described: must play songs that we heard as we were eating that were so special, the timing of speeches, incorporating two traditional dances back to back got the crowd bouncing up and down. It was incredible to take a moment to look at all of my friends and family getting down in our historic mansion (for the night) and not once do I recall a drop off. They kept churning out crowd pleasers that were our songs or in the same family and the dance floor remained packed. There are some magical and unforgettable moments that I could have never expected from one of our groomsmen singing "I want it that way" a cappella and our guests cheering and singing along with him to the very last song when we were handed two sparklers and heard Johnny Cash's "Ring Of Fire" as our friends and family gave us our sparkly sendoff. It was like a dream; did that really happen? I cannot thank Sean and Dan enough for being such a huge part of our wedding. We adore you.
