If there is one thing that I can suggest to any new bride out there that cares about the music at their wedding it is this, HIRE THIS BAND! I cannot tell you enough how amazing they were! Super professional and incredibly talented. They play a great selection of awesome (non-cheesy) music that appeal to all ages and our guests barely sat they were dancing so much, in fact people still can't stop talking about how amazing they were! Worth every penny and I'd pay it again, they make me want to get married every year :)

Being huge music fans, we hired The Engagements to play our wedding after a search for a band that sounded more like those we like to see live, rather than a classic wedding band. From the moment we started working with them we knew we'd made the right choice. Aaron, the manager and drummer, is incredibly attentive and flexible, answering questions with detailed emails or calls and incorporating our unique song requests into our ceremony and playlist. They seemed to know how to play anything we asked for! We and all of our guests were blown away with the quality of their performance. We had a big New York City wedding with 265 people in attendance of all ages and high expectations. The dance floor was packed the whole night! Countless people told us it was the best wedding band they've ever heard. We chose high tide low tide by Bob Marley for our first dance and the lead singer nailed it! People couldn't stop marveling at how much it sounded like the original song! The best wedding band ever. Everyone said they had never had so much fun. Music catered to all ages. It was superb. Such nice guys / gals to work with. They exceeded our expectations.

Well, looking at this page of reviews, I'm not exactly bucking a trend here, so I'll be to the point- You won't find a better wedding band. There are a few reasons for this. The Engagements use top-notch musicians without exception, and you can see not only are they exceptional at what they do, but THEY ENJOY IT TOO! Too many weddings use bands that are falling asleep at the wheel, but The Engagements really bring the soul and the fun to your wedding. In addition to the amazing players and incredible singers, the other thing you worry about when planning a wedding is the people you will be dealing with. Aaron, the drummer and manager of the band, is a God sent. He is patient, brings so much knowledge about what makes a wedding, has many connections to other vendors throughout the area, is calming, personable, fun, and genuinely is interested in the happiness of the couple and their families. Folks, don't keep looking here. This is a no brainer. Forget the other bands. Nobody will make your wedding so memorable and musical as The Engagements will. At the end of the wedding, guests leaving told me they felt they should've had to pay for tickets. Book this band before its too late!

We can't say enough good things about this band. Not only were they stellar performers, but they were a pleasure to work with. Very accommodating, professional. We would highly recommend the engagements to anyone looking for an awesome band that can play all the classics from the 60s though to the 80s. Killed it! 'Nough said.

I cannot speak highly enough of The Engagements. Aaron was an absolute pleasure to deal with during planning, and it was obvious that he was deeply invested in making sure we ended up with exactly what we wanted. What we wanted was a kick-a** party, and that is exactly what The Engagements gave us! Their energy was incredible, their songs sounded amazing, and they rocked SO HARD. They rocked everything from Michael Jackson to Cindy Lauper to the Cure to the Beatles (and Prince and Bowie and I could go on and on!). People danced nonstop throughout the whole reception, and it seemed like every single person could not stop talking about how much they loved the band. We didn't want to include any of the traditional activities in our reception (first dance, father-daughter/mother-son dance, cake cutting, bouquet toss, etc.), and the band did a fantastic job creating the perfect flow for the party without anyone feeling like elements were missing. My favorite moment of the reception: At the very end, for the last song, the band played a killer rendition of Don't Stop Believing. Everyone (and I do mean EVERYONE--even people who were too shy to join in the dancing before) rushed the floor and danced their little hearts out. My wife and I got married in Westerly, RI in June 2011. We had heard many good things about "The Engagements" and decided to hire them after reviewing their videos & music online. Bottom line...this was the best wedding band we've ever heard or seen! I've been to over 100 weddings; some as a guest and most as a musician (in wedding bands). These guys were so good it was scary! The singers were insanely good and incredibly versatile! The band was comprised of top notch studio pros and their enthusiasm was apparent throughout the evening! My wife and I wanted a "fresh" reception without the normal wedding cheese and "The Engagements" delivered 110%. Every guest mentioned how good the band was...and that it was like being at a private concert! I would recommend this band to absolutely anyone!

This is not a bride, this is a groom, so please keep that in mind while reading. I have a double major, in jazz composition and performance from the Berklee College of Music, and am generally a music enthusiast. In my opinion, the most important pieces for our wedding were, in order of priority, the band, the food, and the venue. I spent a significant amount of time researching bands in our area (Philadelphia), went to wedding band showcases, etc, but no band impressed me to a degree to which I'd be willing to spend $7-$12k. I was browsing the internet, and came across The Engagements on YouTube. I wrote a note via 'Contact Us' page on their website, saying 'Probably not able to do our wedding, you look too expensive, it's 2 months prior to the gig, and you're in NYC, but can you make any recommendations b/c you guys look awesome', that kind of thing. Got a call back from Aaron, the drummer/band leader, an hour later. He checked with the rest of the band, met me halfway on budget, and we booked The Engagements 2 days later. From there everyone in the band executed absolutely seamlessly. Prior to the event Aaron spent a ton of time going through songs with me, and basically bent over backwards to make everything I wanted to happen a reality. Without going minute by minute, The Engagements, in my opinion, my wife's opinion, and in the opinion of every person in attendance, were the best wedding band we'd ever seen. Friends/family still talk about these guys/girls almost reverently, and after 6 months I've had people say to me at least 5 times, while at other people's weddings at which a band of similar size/assumed budget is performing, "Your band was so much better than these guys". Keep in mind these other bands are charging $10k+ (showcase bands, etc). Do yourself a favor and book these guys, it was the second best thing that happened on my wedding day. Why doesn't Wedding Wire allow 6 stars? These guys deserve all of 'em. My wife and I hired The Engagements to play our wedding last weekend, and let me tell you: they rocked the house. Sweet '80s (and '70s) tunes got people to rush -- RUSH -- onto the dance floor, and our guests danced all night. Michael Jackson, A-Ha, Al Green, The Zombies, Journey, Simple Minds, Bon Jovi, The Eurythmics, and more -- fun, non-traditional wedding fare. These guys are incredibly talented, with a huge vocal and instrumental range. They electrified the place all night. They also couldn't be easier to work with. We requested songs that weren't on their (already extensive) play list, and they happily accommodated us. We met with them several times over the past few months in New York, and they were amenable to all of our ideas. They also had plenty of creative ideas themselves -- for instrumental music prior to our ceremony, for cocktail hour, and for the reception. Folks after our wedding came up to us to remark how great the band was and to tell us how much fun they had. If only they played New York bars on a frequent basis, too.

We looked at a lot of bands before finding The Engagements and we are SO happy we did our research! They were incredibly attentive to what we wanted for the event, from Buddy Holly for the ceremony, a great jazz trio for the cocktail hour, and a fantastic soul/80s 10 piece band for the party that kept everyone dancing the whole night. The energy was incredible! Also, they did an amazing job with our first song even though it wasn't part of their usual repertoire. It meant so much to us!

This band is AWESOME. My husband and I listened to A LOT of bands before picking one for our wedding, and when we heard the Engagements, they just totally blew all the other "wedding" bands away. We came across live footage of them playing at actual weddings on YouTube, and even with a live camcorder recording, we could tell that they had a level of musicianship that was so much higher than a lot of the typical "wedding" bands that you come across with fancy press kit videos. (The Engagements also have some press kit videos, and again, shows off their level of musicianship, but my husband and I are picky music people so we like to listen to live recordings.) Needless to say, when the Engagements played at our wedding last weekend, they did not disappoint. The were AWESOME. All night, our guests kept telling us how great the band sounded, and even in the days after the wedding, people were still talking about how great the band was. Our guests ranged from people who never listen to American pop music (or don't know anything about music, really) to professional musicians, and both groups and everyone in between just LOVED the band. In addition to being great musicians, the Engagements also managed to get EVERYONE on the dance floor - including relatives that I have NEVER seen EVER dance before at weddings. They even managed to get my great-aunt to get on the dance floor - that's pretty awesome. The band has a very extensive repertoire of pop songs from the 70's and 80's (mostly soul, funk, R&B and 80's pop), so there was literally a song for everyone at the wedding. Prior to the wedding, I had provided a list of requests to the band and some picky specifications as to what versions of certain songs I wished to be played, and again, day of wedding, the band did not disappoint. They listened to literally EVERYTHING (yes, all annoying picky specifications) I said, played the songs EXACTLY as specified, and very often sounded like the original recording. Often times "good" tight cover bands will play the music, but lose the original feel and groove of a song, but the musicians in the Engagements are THAT good (versatile, talented, and respect the music they play), and do get the nuances of every cover they play, and that's what makes them a "great" cover band. They are worth every penny - you really do get what you pay for. I highly recommend them for any event.

This is the band that you want to hire for your wedding. My wife made it my responsibility to find the band and while every element of a wedding is important I think the band can make good food taste great, a decent venue the tajmahal, pretty flowers amazing flowers. The Engagements were low key to deal with before hand and absolutely delivered the day of. They were not corny or cheesy, they had a lot of fun without making it about them, and ultimately they can play their asses off.

This band literally made our wedding. They are all independently successful musicians who enjoy coming together to provide the ever-important musical element for a couple's big day. They were happy to learn a few new songs to give us just what we were looking for, and they played well over the time we were allotted. The first few sets of soul/motown got everyone on the dance floor, and then they rocked out with a bunch of 80s and 90s dance hits. By the end of the night, we were all sore from dancing so hard, but our friends kept The Engagements around for an encore when they started chanting "One More Song! One More Song!" Best. Band. Ever.

This band offered us the ultimate in options and flexibility. My wife and I planned every little aspect of our wedding ourselves and we had a great time doing it-- but by FAR our best interactions were with this band-- and specifically, Aaron. He was laid-back, but attentive, respectful and full of good suggestions. PLUS THE MUSIC MADE THE PARTY. They were well worth every penny, and worked with us to be sure we didn't break the bank, either. They hauled out of NYC to the Catskills and asked nothing of us. They put on a show that will go down in our family's history that got EVERYONE up and dancing. (Including a thrilling rendition of Total Eclipse of the Heart, that is my favorite memory.) Amazing. I've never had so much fun and I recommend them to anyone who wants a truly memorable party.

The Enagagements were timely, professional and flexible...they seriously rocked! Their understanding of the occcasion and how to cater to our needs could not have been better. To this day, I get people telling me how great the band was and asking me how I found them. They rocked hard all night, and were able to read the crowd and timbre of the party and adjust their style, song choice and volume perfectly. I would have them play any and every occasion I could and can't wait to see them at their next gig. Not only am I a happy customer, but also a fan!
