I came across Jarrell Entertainment when attending a NYC wedding expo at the Metropolitan Pavilion in March 2012. They were the first DJs me and my fiance had walked over to (the music they were playing drew us over). We were immediately greeted by Matty (one of the DJs) and had a great time chatting with him and talking about the style and approach to what Jarrell Entertainment offers with their DJs. We walked away with a great impression of the company. We visited a few other DJs at the event but were underwhelmed and did not feel the same vibe that we had gotten when meeting with Matty. I made an appt to speak with Ray Jarrell after the wedding expo. He was so nice, warm and informative. I immediately went online to further research Jarrell Entertainment and watched video clips of each of their DJs at which point we made appts to meet with a few of them. We ended up choosing Matty and could not have been happier! Not only did he understand us as a couple and our vision for music that night, he provided us with great feedback and suggestions on how to make the night and ambiance even better. He was extremely easy and fun to work with - felt like we were working with an old friend the entire time. Music was one of the most important elements for our wedding (as we wanted us and our guests to dance the night away) and Matty did not disappoint. Based on the songs and music genres we provided, he knew how to read the crowd and kept the energy up and us and our guests happy all night long. He even approached me a few times to see if there was anything I had wanted him to play or just to simply check in. My guests (of all ages) could not stop talking about how much they loved the music. We loved Matty!!! The team at Jarrell Entertainment were on top of everything from the moment I reached out to them and I always felt like I was in great and highly capable hands. I loved working with Jarrell Entertainment and would HIGHLY recommend them!

Our wedding had lots of customization to the event. DJ Matty was phenomenal DJ, lots of wedding event knowledge and was acting general in the field taking care of the flow of the event. Ray and his DJ crew and even assistant, everyone @ Jarrell Entertainment was professional and very helpful. It was awesome. Best part of the wedding planning and easiest to work with. They also do lighting, lighting was insanely well done, couldn't be more happier, it created the most exciting atmosphere during entire wedding. Thank you guys, you guys deserve more than 5 stars.

We originally spoke with owner Ray, who is delightful and enthusiastic. He then put us in the very capable hands of Uma, who runs the office. Uma set up a meeting for us with DJ MKL (Michael.) We fell in love with Michael the minute we met him. We called Uma to start the paperwork before we even got back to our car. Michael is both hip and chill, and reads a crowd like nobody's business. We explained to Michael what we wanted to accomplish with the music, and he went far above our expectations. To add some unexpected fun to our dance floor, we also hired Ronnie Roc on percussion. Ronnie has mad skills, and he does rock! Our guests are still raving about the music and the percussion and the general party feel DJ MKL and Ronnie provided. Don't hesitate to use Jarrell Entertainment. They are ultimate professionals!

Ray was our DJ and he was phenomenal! Our wedding was on the eve of Hurricane Sandy, so a lot of people were anxious about the storm, but Ray continue to keep the party atmosphere going. We have a lot of friends who said that their biggest complaint was that they had to leave the dance floor. He was professional, calm in a difficult situation and knew how to keep the party alive!

Ray Jarrell made our wedding truly amazing. He is professional, responsive, elegant, hip and sophisticated. Ray read the mood of the guests and was sensitive to every stage of the evening. Ray had the dance floor packed all night with every generation and made everyone fell welcome and part of the celebration. Ray provided his own incredible sound system that blends into the surroundings and delivers sound you can feel but does not deafen those that want to talk rather dance. We could not have had a better DJ. Ray is, without question, the best at what he does.

I had previously only been to weddings with a band so I was nervous using a DJ for my own wedding but DJ Jarrell blew away my expectations. He was incredibly easy to work with and created the ultimate atmosphere for my wedding. I was able to choose very specific songs for my ceremony which made it personal. Then for the reception he kept people of all ages on the dance floor the entire time. He was one of the highlights of my wedding for sure. I would highly recommend!

When my wife and I started to think about our wedding, the prospect of booking a DJ excited me than booking any other vendor. To me, a DJ can make or break a wedding. The one vendor that controls if everyone is out of their seat, having a great time or stuck in their seat, bored and waiting until it's time to go home. Growing up and even recently, most of the weddings I went to had these DJ's that played corny music, came with a light show and would try to MC when there should be no need. I wanted no part of that and tried to find a DJ that got it, got our vision of the party that we wanted to throw and that we could connect with to make what we had in our heads a reality. I didn't think it was possible until I first spoke with Ray Jarrell. I found Jarrell Entertainment on a harmless internet search and quickly called and got in touch with Ray. Within a few minutes, I knew he was our guy. Upon meeting him, it was clear he shared the passion of the music that we had wanted played at our wedding and was someone we could entirely trust with this and take a lot of stress away from us. Through the months between booking Ray and our wedding, we met up a few times and emailed frequently with playlists, song ideas and just to see how we and he were doing. During the day of, everything we conveyed with Ray on what we had wanted happened and it happened flawlessly. He continually played great music hour after hour and was gracious every time he had to address our guests. He helped make our wedding as great as it was. I can't speak for other DJ's at Jarrell Entertainment but I can say Ray is not only a great DJ but a great guy as well. He cares about the music which comes through during your reception but he is also a great guy who genuinely cares about the couple who's wedding he is DJing. It was an honor to have Ray DJ our wedding, everyone deserves to have a vendor, no matter who, be as good as they are at their craft and as great of a person as he is.

Ray made Elizabeth and Matthew's wedding so much fun! We danced all night. Ray is professional, energetic and easy to work with.

MKL worked so well with the wedding party and providers. He was present during the planning yet not overbearing in his presence. He is a sweet and pleasant presence when not providing his services, blending in well with the scene. Most remarkable, however, is his dj services. He took our play list and, with our permission, added to it, blending and mixing in a way that kept the party rocking all night long. To a person, our guest said it was the best dance party they had ever been to.

We met with one of Ray's guys (DJ Stephen) about a year before our wedding to discuss the kind of music we wanted...he seemed to be on board. We worked on our list for about 9 months and submitted it to the DJ. He had our list for approx. 3 months. We had must plays, do-not plays, etc. The list was probably 5 times bigger than what could have been played. The DJ did a good job at mixing but did not manage to get the vibe we were going for. He missed most of our must plays and we had to tell him to go back to the list a few times during the night. He added a lot of music we did not care for and was not in-sync to our list. He did a poor job and had no excuses as he had the list for over 3 months. At one point during the night we asked him to play one of the songs from our list and he had no clue what we were talking about. Our guests said the music was good but we knew it could have been great.

I spoke at length with Ray Jarrell before deciding on his services for my NYC wedding. He answered every question and instilled confidence in my decision, especially since I was planning my wedding from Ohio. He asked about my vision for my wedding, what my needs were, and recommended DJ Matty to fit my taste. DJ Matty was incredible. He was flexible in setting up a face-to-face meeting, after multiple flight delays and travel issues. He went over the wedding plan in detail and quickly answered all of my questions whether it was by email, text, or phone. People were dancing the entire night, and we even extended the reception for another hour because everyone was having so much fun. I know I am slightly biased because it was my wedding, but I agree with many of the guests who said that dancing at our wedding was one of the most fun nights they had ever had, and we have DJ Matty to thank for that. He played everything I wanted and avoided anything I didn't want to hear. He was very professional, knowledgeable, and fun. Their prices seemed equivalent to other quality DJs in NYC and their services exceeded my expectations. I would definitely recommend Jarrell Entertainment and DJ Matty to anyone and would use them again if the occasion arises.

The Best. My wife and I had been to a friend's wedding where Ray had DJ'd, and there was no doubt when we were planning our own wedding, that he would be the only choice. We knew he was great going in, but he still managed to exceed our expectations. To put it best, it normally takes a LOT to get me up dancing, and with Ray, you can't get me off the dance floor. Ray works with you to take your vision and create a night better than you could have imagined. He customized music for special requests, mixed a crazy array of songs and beats, and created an atmosphere that set the tone for our night. Our guests are still raving about how amazing our DJ was, and my sister (Who just got engaged) has already booked Ray for her own wedding next summer. When you're planning a wedding, all you want is for your guests to be up dancing and having a great time all night, and that is exactly what Ray makes happen. There are no swirling multi-colored lights, and no gimmicks.....Just a sleek set up and absolutely amazing music. Don't stress over your choice of DJ's. Ray Jarrell is a no brainer.

I was really excited to have this DJ company, especially as it was a wedding gift from my mom (and an expensive one at that, their flat rate is $2,500 for 4 hours). We met with Ray before the wedding to discuss the kind of music we like and the vibe we wanted at our wedding. They played most of the songs we specifically requested and were very good about not accepting requests from our guests. They didn\'t play any of the \"do not play\" songs. They definitely got people on the dance floor! My only complaint is that our particular DJ was not as experienced as others from this company and so he was not as good at mixing/blending the songs together, but he was leaps and bounds better than any DJ I\'ve ever encountered at a wedding and still great. I should also mention that they worked on very short notice with us and we were able to book 3 months before our wedding and change the venue twice after booking them.

Where to even begin - we asked Jarrell Entertainment to handle DJ duties for both Friday and Saturday of our wedding. Ray was on hand Friday night for our kickoff cocktail party and knew exactly how to read the mood of our guests. From light music during dinner to a surprise dance party as the guests arrived, it was all perfect. For our after party at the wedding he was even better. I'm pretty sure some of our guests tried to sign him on for a few more hours after the party had ended. We received such great feedback over your choice in music and ability to really get people dancing and we couldn't agree more ourselves. Thank you for making our wedding truly special!

Working with Ray Jarrell and his team was a pleasure. They were very responsive and really listened to what we wanted for our wedding-- we had an amazing mariachi band for the cocktail hour and then it was non-stop dancing at the reception. It was an amazing party!!! I highly recommend working with Jarrell Entertainment.

When I reached out to Ray about the music in my wedding and told him right off the bat I wanted it to be a party, no concern about radio edits, just a great party. He got it. Like playing R. Kelly and California hip hop side by side with Beasts of Burden got it! Really Got it like all of our favorites were played and the Bride danced so hard her hair was a gloriously sweaty mess, just like she wanted it got it. Got it so well that to this day people still mention how great the DJ was at my wedding! My friends/family are a hard batch to impress too with many of them being music executives and the like and they were all on the dance floor til the wee hours with me! I have recommended him to friends for their functions and gladly will recommend him for your occassion as well!

It was such a pleasure to work with Jarrell Entertainment for our wedding reception. Ray was very accommodating to our busy schedules when we met with him. David, who was the DJ spinning at the wedding, listened to our requests and visions and incorporated them into the evening while bringing his own ideas in the mix. We were really happy to have Matty at our wedding. He managed proceedings excellently so that introductions, speeches and dancing all ran smoothly. He came up with a great playlist which suited our guests and had everyone on the dance floor for two and half hours until we had to close. The next day everyone was complaining about how much their feet hurt because no one had danced so much in really long time!

From the city to the country, Ray and his crew will arrange the perfect atmosphere for your event. Ray provided the music for our small garden wedding last September. Our guests were from all aspects of life and age ... my Uncle had so much fun he didn't walk for 3 days after and my 86 year old friend danced the night away. I AGREE with everything Lauren (the review before mine) had to say about Ray and JE Entertainment. A company of amazing high-end quality and style with a very affordable budget! Ray Saved The Day: The moment I spoke to Ray over the phone, I knew I wanted to work with him. Initially, I had found a DJ on craigslist thinking I could save a lot of money that way. In the end, it was a disaster and 2 weeks before the wedding, the first person I thought of was Ray/Jarrell Entertainment. He remembered me from our conversation a year before. He was able to find me a DJ last minute (DJ Medina) who was amazing. He was also accomodating in providing the right equipment and set up for a rustic outdoor wedding (see link to pictures below featured on Style Me Pretty). In Working with Ray: He's completely professional, down to earth and patiently understood my Bride-like-antics. I would work with Ray and his team in a heartbeat. His company is at the level of taste and style that I was looking (my wedding would be categorized as high-end but low-key). One thing I wanted to avoid was the typical wedding DJ (tux, middle-aged man with a mustache and cheesy voice over the mic...sorry if you're that guy, don't mean to insult you). Ray Also understood my budget and did not compromise on service because of it. In working with DJ Medina: He was so easy going and accomodating and was so on point in reading the crowd and the timing. He did not needed to be managed at all on the day of the event. He showed up on time (despite the rural location and hard to find private venue), and knew exactly who to talk to and what to do. He had the guests dancing till the place was shut down. I could not be more happy with DJ Medina. Since my own wedding, I've also entered into the wedding business as a photographer, and Ray / Jarrell Entertainment will be my one vendor I will stand behind when it comes to providing music and entertainment. Here was our list of “musts”: -A GREAT mix of music -Someone who understood us and could build on our music taste -Reasonable price with no hidden fees -Someone who could cater to our friends, parents and grandparents -Someone who could keep the dace floor packed all night -Someone who is as passionate about music as my husband and I are -Someone who would not take over the evening with announcements and one-liners -Professionalism and NO cheese When we first talked to Ray, we immediately knew that he was not your average wedding DJ. He had all of our “musts” and had worked with the best and had built a reputation for packing the floor. There is no cheese with Ray. He has great taste in music and knows how to read the crowd unlike anyone I’ve seen before. Not only is he talented and extremely professional, he is also well connected! Ray helped us secure a drummer (amazing), a three piece band AND our wedding videographers—who were beyond fabulous. On the day of our wedding, Ray literally blew us away! Almost a year later, all of our friends are STILL talking about the music and how much fun they had dancing. My mother-in-law, who is somewhat difficult to please and not a fan of DJs, actually asked Ray to stay and play for an extra hour because she—and everyone else—enjoyed the music so much! You need look no further for a more talented, professional, warm, totally rocking DJ and person. I have know Ray for years; he has been spinning at many of the events I have attended/planned and every time I'm blown away by the level of FUN he takes each event. AMAZING all the way around.
