I brought both my bridal dress and my mother's dress here for alterations and had two completely different experiences with the same alteration staff. My dress was an elaborate ball gown with a long train and extensive beadwork. The dress was a sample and fit well, so required alterations were minimal, but bustle work was extensive. When I was quoted the price, I was in a bit of sticker-shock but the place assured me that it included spot cleaning for a mark on the front of the dress, alterations, steam, and replacement of loose beads. The alteration on my dress went well, and I never really noticed any beadwork loose, so no complaints in that department. However, there was a gray smudge on the front that I was told after the fact would not come out for the day of and that made me a little dissapointed in such an expensive price quote. Plus we were promised a diagram for the bustle and it was never provided (leading to a lot of stress on the day of the wedding).
My mother brought her dropped waist aline gown with ruching for alterations (a hem and to be taken in on the sides). It was a MESS! They just could not get the ruching to sit flat after they did the alteration on the side. We went back multiple times and sometimes the dress was too small, they tried to put cap sleeves on and one sleeve was wider than the other. Two days before the wedding they still could not get it just right and we wound up having to ditch the dress and buy a new one! Plus they made us pay for their botched job.
So would I take something back there? Not at their prices and with the touch and go service.
