We sat down with a few wedding photographers, looking for a good fit. Sara made us feel comfortable and her work speaks for itself. She was flexible and created an experience that we were very happy with. We've never been photographed before and felt nervous but Sara and her 2nd shooter were invisible and we never noticed them working (and we were in a smaller space). They were patient when getting shots of family and had great suggestions for photos (and executed those ideas superbly). Absolute pros. I would recommend without reservation.

I got married about three month ago on the DAY OF Hurricane Sandy in New York City. The day was absolutely insane but it couldn't have turned out more perfect, and I am so thankful that we chose Sara to capture the unforgettable event. Sara was already highly recommended from a friend of mine (from doing her engagement pics and wedding photos). The decision to go with Sara was instant at our first meeting. She is both personable and professional. I loved that I was comfortable enough to ask her anything and she was always back to me with answers before I anticipated, which is incredibly assuring when you're hoping for answers as soon as possible. The day of the wedding was really crazy before Sara arrived. The city was being shut down: bridges were being closed, subways and public transportation was scheduled to stop running, and we were advised to stay off the streets. Sara showed up early to start my coverage and she immediately got to work shooting which really solidified for me that the show was going on! She got me excited by playing back awesome shots she was taking while getting ready. Through the rest of the day, I didn't have any surprises from her. She blended into the crowds and wasn't in anybody's way, which I think is what you want. Nobody felt like there were too many cameras on them so she was able to snap people enjoying themselves having a good time. The day was really perfect, but my satisfaction with her was tripled when we finally got our pictures a couple weeks ago. It is the BEST feeling to have AMAZING pictures to look back on, to see all the work and details you put into it that you missed during the reception, and to say it was worth every hard earned penny for it. Sara was great to work with from beginning to end. She also did our engagement pics before the wedding and the creativity in those pics received huge compliments. I’d choose her again without question.

From the moment my husband and I met Sara we were instantly comfortable and knew that she was the right photographer for us. I really can't say enough great things about Sara. After seeing her wedding portfolio, I knew right away that she would be our wedding photographer. I have incredibly high standards, especially when it comes to fine art and photography. The one thing I KNEW I wanted to be of the highest quality, regardless of price, were the photographs for my wedding. I shopped and shopped around, until I saw a friend's wedding photos. They were the best wedding photos I'd ever seen so I knew that even if it was out of my price range, I wanted to hire her photographer. To my delight, Sara Wight turned out to be not only the best out there, and the MOST hard working, and unobtrusive, but also quite reasonable for what you get. Sara was extremely flexible and helpful in mapping out and planning our wedding photos. On the day of, she took great candid shots without intruding on the wedding at all (which was very important to us). If I had to list a negative, I would say that she was not as effective at corralling everyone to take staged group photos (there were a few pre-planned group shots that we failed to get); however, this was somewhat our fault as we specifically asked that she not be intrusive. Overall, I would recommend her highly.

My spouse and I recently visited New York where we were married. Sara was one of the photographers present, and took some stunningly awesome pictures. Some of the pictures she captured, were things I completely missed about our day. As a bride, its easy to miss things, especially on your special day. Sara Wight is easy going and talented -- for me, a perfect combination. Not only was she able to understand our vision, she pulled it off masterfully. Sara was the first photographer I contacted for my May 2011 wedding and I didn't really know what I was looking for, but her calm, friendly personality quickly put me at ease. I found Sara through the wpja website and fell in love with her work; specifically how she managed to capture the candid moments you always wish you had pictures of. I emailed her to find out about availability and rates and heard back within the hour. I took my sister to meet with her and knew right away that she was the photographer for me - not only was her work amazing but she has the type of personality that I knew I'd want/need on the wedding day. She had such a good sense of humor and made us feel at ease (which is super important and this person is going to be with you as you get ready). Although Sara's based in Brooklyn, she kindly offered to come out to Westchester for a tour of our venue so she could familiarize herself with the space and help come up with ideas for our 1st look shots as well as contingency plans should it rain. Again, as a nervous bride nearing her wedding day, this walk-through put me at ease. On the day of the wedding, Sara and her assistant arrived at the venue before we did and for 8 hours captured all our best moments - people who viewed her work said, "she just gets it- its exactly what you wanted!" And its true - there aren't cheesy, posed shots or unflattering photos - everything is how I hoped. I honestly can't say enough about how happy I was with everything. I'd recommend her to anyone.

She met with us initially in our home in September 2010 to go over her services, and the pictures she showed us blew us away. For our own wedding pictures, she didn't disappoint. Her work product is amazing. Unfortunately, the weather on our wedding was dreary and overcast, but you could not tell in the photos. My husband and I hired Sara Wight to photograph our wedding in December 2010. I decided to hire her because she was far more professional than other photographers in the area, and her work was stunning and beautifully presented. Our wedding was in a dark space lit almost entirely by candles, which I imagine was difficult to photograph, but Sara's shots were amazing and captured the romantic mood and gothic environment. My husband and I were looking for a mix of classic shots and more modern, whimsical shots, and Sara and her assistant covered both with ease. They were also highly flexible - even though we were 45 minutes late to our portraits, they took a mere fifteen minutes to cover what we thought would take an hour, and the shots came out great. Sara was just as professional during the wedding and reception as she was in our meetings and correspondence leading up to the event. I didn't even see her or her assistant during the ceremony or reception - they were very discrete - and was surprised to see they were actually able to capture some incredibly intimate moments without being obtrusive. All around, Sara Wight is an excellent value and highly professional. She was able to capture some beautiful and intimate moments at our wedding in a discrete manner. I'm so glad we hired her!

Sara recently photographed our wedding, and I absolutely loved working with her. She was extremely professional, and always gave me the utmost confidence that we were going to be happy with our pictures (and we were!). I also have a very demanding job so it was nice to work with someone who worked as hard as I did to make sure everything was perfect. What also impressed me about Sara is the value for her packages. We chose the 8-hour day so we could have her and an assistant to get photos of both my now-husband and I getting ready separately. It was also nice to have photos from 2 viewpoints. After about 4 weeks, Sara returned a photo CD with a number of hand-selected pictures that were ours to keep and to do whatever we wanted with them - like post on Facebook - which was great. Finally, and what was most important to me, was the kind of pictures. We wanted non-traditional, candid shots but our family wanted more of the formal posed photos. Sara did a great job making sure we were both happy, which meant a lot to us.

Sara was an amazing photographer and if we had to choose all over again, we would pick her photography in a heart beat. We were so pleased with her willingness to work with our schedules and different requests, as well as the way she performed the day of the weddding. We just received the pictures and we couldn't be happier! Thanks again for everything Sara!

My husband and I were very happy with the team of vendors we'd assembled for our wedding, but of them all, our favorite was Sara! From the start, her warm and personable nature made us comfortable (which is important because your photographer will be following you every second of your wedding day!). When she was willing to customize a package for our budget and specific needs, we booked her immediately and even added an engagement session. The e-session was a great preview: we absolutely loved those beautiful shots, as did our family. She encouraged us to focus on each other while she her thing, and we had so much fun we barely felt like we were on display. The photos totally reflected the playful spirit of our relationship during the shoot. We were also amazed by the range of photos that she and Leana, her second shooter, took on our wedding day, since we barely noticed that they were there. She presented us with a great mix of traditional shots and some more artistic compositions, which were the reason we picked her to begin with. The photos documented so many small moments we would have otherwise missed while getting married! Also, the catering hall (which undoubtedly sees tons of photographers) commented that she was one of the most organized and well prepared photographers they'd ever seen. In short, Sara was a wonderful photographer who made us feel as relaxed as we are with our friends, but also so professional that we never had to worry about her. She kept us on schedule during the months leading up to the wedding (e.g., let's do the e-session before August; friendly reminder about your second payment; please send me a list of portrait shots by Sept. 15th), always responded to emails promptly, arrived everywhere early, and patiently answered my many many many questions throughout the process. When our wedding was over, I was actually sad that our year-long journey with Sara was over. But until the next time we need to hire a photographer, we're so glad we have these gorgeous photos through which we can relive our wedding day and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to anyone.

We couldn’t have been happier with our decision to hire Sara Wight Photography to take our wedding photographs. First and foremost, the photographs were absolutely beautiful. The photos were a blend of both the traditional and the artistic. Sara captured every beautiful detail and special moment, including ones that we would not have otherwise seen. She also captured the chronology of the day, so we can relive our wedding through the photos. However, in doing so she was completely unobtrusive. We all felt comfortable with her photography style—in fact even our families raved about her afterwards. Prior to our wedding it was clear that she had a plan for the day and even helped us develop a photography schedule, so that we would not miss any important shots or run into any problems in the blur of our wedding day. My husband and I loved working with Sara. The artistry you see on the website is truly what she brings the day of your wedding. She was incredibly flexible with us, considering our wedding was small and helped us find one of her plans that really worked for our needs. I was amazed when she sent us the shots at what an array of angles she got and the sheer amount of shots (since I barely noticed her most of the day); she was a steal in terms of what we got for what we paid. She got a great feel for our wedding, asked the right questions to get an idea of what we wanted our photos to represent. I would absolutely recommend her to any of my friends.
