I am getting married in May 2013 and decided to start my wedding gown search this past July. After a few months of looking for the right dress, I came across several posts regarding Selia Yang and her beautiful, simple aesthetic. After visiting her web site and viewing her collection, I knew I was extremely lucky and had stumbled upon a very special designer. My first appointment confirmed this - all of the Selia Yang dresses in person are gorgeous - beautiful dresses with stunning fabrications. I also love that despite being fancy, Selia's dresses have a relaxed, elegant feel to them. I had a very difficult time choosing a dress out of several that I fell in love with. I had to have my mom and sister fly in from TX and Chicago to help me make a final decision - my sister cried a few times when she saw the dresses on me. Selia Yang herself was there for my appointments and handled my fittings . She is such a warm person who really made the experience unforgettable. My family was so impressed with Selia and how she knew what would look best on me. Her salon is also impeccable, very serene, and a true artist/designer's atelier. If you are in search for unique dresses that STUN (without being over the top) and one-on-one attention/pampering, you MUST visit Selia Yang. I cannot wait to walk down the aisle in my dress!

I had Selia make my wedding gown for my feb 2013 wedding. She is a small NY designer that makes custom gowns for we clients. If you are looking for the Kleinfelds sort of experience she is not your girl. She is a more intimate personal designer than the mass produced kleinfelds or other NY bridal boutiques. I feel like her showrooms is the type of place New York brides shop. The gown she made my was absolutely gorgeous! She can tweak any gown she has in her store so that you have everything you want in a wedding gown. I would highly recommend her to make your wedding gown

Selia was great to work with. She takes her time to make every detail perfect. I went to 7 fittings, but I knew that the end product would be exactly what I wanted. I bought a sample dress which Selia tailored herself to fit me perfectly. I highly recommend Selia!

I looked at a lot of other boutiques and showrooms before I happened upon Selia Yang. What set her dresses apart are how beautifully they are cut and fit, in my opinion, the most important thing about a wedding dress. I adored my dress, which was a very simple style, and they were able to adjust certain details according to what I wanted. There is absolutely no comparison to having the actual designer of the dress fit you and make the dress to your specifications. She was able to adjust every tiny aspect of the dress to fit me perfectly and work with my body--this is just not possible when you're dealing with a middle man or taking it to a seamstress for alterations. Susan, who I dealt with for much of the process, is very sweet and friendly, and made us all feel totally comfortable. I also bought an amazing and really unique sash to go with my dress as well as a shrug and even earrings that Selia was able to have her jeweler adjust to go perfectly with my whole look. Having her input for the overall style I was going for was invaluable. I'd definitely recommend Selia Yang for someone who likes the personal touch of working directly with a designer.

I went to many wedding salons in Manhattan and Los Angeles and it was Selia Yang that completely won me over with the gorgeous selection of gowns, very savvy and wonderful staff (including Selia herself!), and very personal, unpressured service. The entire experience with Selia Yang, from being torn between multiple amazing dresses, making a final very exciting decision, working with Selia and Susan for my fittings, and finally getting married in the perfectly constructed dress of my dreams was absolutely magical and practically felt effortless and I can\\\'t be more grateful.

I bought my wedding dress at Selia Yang and the whole experience from beginning to end was lovely. I adore my dress so much and I knew it was the one from the moment I put it on. Selia is a genius in understanding how to fit a woman's body. Her designs are so fashion forward yet timeless and the same time. By the time I started looking for a wedding dress, I only had about 9 weeks until the big day but she still got everything finished exactly on time. The whole experience was just so warm - they really treat their clients like family. Selia is so caring and treated every detail of my dress as if it were her own wedding. No matter how hectic the rest of the wedding planning got, my dress fittings were calm and reassuring every time. I always left Selia Yang feeling beautiful and excited about my dress. I loved my wedding dress so much I recently went back to Selia Yang for an evening gown to wear to a red carpet event…… the dress is nothing short of AMAZING!!!!!!!

I am VERY disappointed with my experience at SY. I went in to purchase a veil and possibly a dress during the sample sale, but I accidentally got the dates mixed up and showed up on a regular Saturday. I have NEVER felt so uncomfortable in my life. Not only was the sales associate cold and rude, she was AWKWARD!! I apologized for getting the date wrong and started to leave, but she huffily stopped me and said she'd show me the veils. I uncomfortably looked through them and asked for something specific which she rudely said "That is not our asthetic!" (Read: That is tacky). Okay.. Then I realized the designer herself had emerged from the back during all this, stared at me from behind then ran back before I could notice her (my husband saw all this unfold). I tried to make pleasant conversation since it was just so uncomfortable and awkward, but this nasty sales person was having none of it. I know some of her dresses are pretty, but it is never acceptable to treat customers like this. In this economy especially, you have to sell service which SY has NO INTEREST in doing. Run, do not walk away from this horrible salon!!!

I am so happy I decided to get my dress from Selia Yang. The craftsmanship and detail was incredible and I had so many people tell me that it was the most beautiful wedding dress they had ever seen. The dresses are not inexpensive, but the quality of service was amazing. Selia was at each fitting, and when there was an issue with the fit of my dress a few days before I was supposed to pick it up, she made sure that they did everything they need to so that it would be absolutely pefect. The ladies in the salon are so friendly and nice, and I enjoyed each of my visits there.

Terrible experience! The designer herself is cold and unfriendly. Walked out with a bad taste in my mouth. No thanks, this experience should be fun and memorable. I don't recommend this to any bride!

Quality of Service: I waited 35 mins from the time of my booked appointment for someone to say hello let alone just to show me a dress. Once the woman arrive, she acted as though I was a bother and rushed thru the process - and it felt exactly that a 'process'. Responsiveness: Terrible. answers to questions were vague and short. No show of real care Professionalism: After waiting and being spoken to rudely - I come to find out I'm speaking to Selia Yang her self. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT!!!!!!! Value for Cost: WAY over priced Flexibility: Terrible experience for the one day of my life. Had I gone with her, she would have ruined my day!!!!

Wow - all the dresses here are so gorgeous. I saw mine in the window whole visiting friends in New York; it was the first dress that I tired on, and I bought it even though I had to fly back across the country (from San Francisco) for my fittings, and had to take the dress back with me on the plane (stuffed into an overhead compartment). My friend, who came with me to my appointment at Selia Yang, loved one dress so much that she went back to buy it when she got engaged. My only complaint is that it was a little hard to get a hold of the salespeople at Selia Yang - it took several emails and several calls just to schedule a fitting. This was a little annoying, but not that big of a deal, particularly considering what a great job they did on the dress. It came out beautifully!! Thanks!

I looked at at least 9 different wedding dress shops before this one. The last dress I tried on I loved. She has a lot of contemporary styles and some more classic vintage like dresses. However the girl I worked with for the majority of the time quit and the new girl told me to use garmet tape to tape the pieces of my dress that wrapped around and tied in the back and it totally messed up the dress after. Besides that it was overall a good experience. The alterations are not included in the price of the dress and start at around $450, kinda pricey.
