I got married at The Thayer Hotel on July 21, 2012. The hotel was pretty much my first vendor so I worked with them for 14 months before the wedding. The venue had everything we were looking for. The day turned out amazing - the staff was wonderful. They created a lot of food stations they don't normally do for our cocktail hour, and while they charged extra, they did it with a smile. I do have to warn brides about a catering manager in the office, though. We were working with Lexi until about a month before the wedding. My husband and I were not too thrilled with her in the beginning. I also realized very quickly that she didn't carry her promises through, so I learned to only communicate through email with her. About a month before the wedding, I found out about a few things that I wish I had known/I felt as though she had plenty of opportunity to at least mention. For example, that another wedding was using my ceremony space up until 1 hour prior to my ceremony (we had been told up and down that we were the only wedding that weekend), thus not allowing the florists to decorate as we thought; she told me she had no idea why all the hotel rooms were booked when the reason was that there was another wedding going on; she told us we'd have to pay an extra $400 per her beverage manager to provide mint at the bar in case our guests wanted a mojito - we found out later that the bar always has mint and we wouldn't have to pay the money. When the smoke cleared, I asked for a new coordinator, Stacey, who went above and beyond, on top of being sweet and patient (and she was in charge of the other wedding that day too, but she did it all with a smile - unlike Lexi, who never smiled). I would advise every bride to STEER CLEAR of Lexi, but know that once you do, the hotel will definitely take care of your wedding.

During the time your contract was signed and the execution of the actual wedding, the hotel went through some very large Management changes which may have altered some of the item prices in which you had inquired about during the process of planning and we believe this is what took place with your request for mojitos.
Since we are a hotel and have many different banquet rooms available, there is always a possibility that another event or possibly a wedding could take place on the same day around the same time as yours. We are sorry if this was not explained to you at the time of your booking and we have taken care of the situation.
Though you may not have "clicked" with your first Catering Manager, we are very happy to hear that you were able to with the second one as we know that it is very important to like or even love working with your Catering Manager.
